am a mostly self-taught sculptor adhering to humanoid, facial, animal and robust "art-brut" figures. I find any clay to be my main medium to work with-it is such a simple and beautiful material. My sculpture embodies many influences including anatomy, spiritualism, mythology, zoology, supernature, classical and ancient, art-deco , erotica and taboo subjects. While I generally retain a little figurative and traditional feel to my work, a consistent and habitual thread running through it all comprises of blatant or oblique warping or distortion strategies while sculpting. There is rarely any plan or forethought unless for a "basis" image or a commissioner's specific requirement. |
