 series of acrylic on canvas paintings inspired by the study of woven textiles and the process of weaving.
The paintings are an exploration of using the paint to produce interwoven bands of colour , worked sometimes in opposite directions so that the colours blend as they cross. The resulting images are abstract planes suspended in space. The paint is the fabric, the paintings is the fabrication, the colours are the threads.
The vertical and horizontal drifts of colour create a harmony and tranquility in which there is complete stillness and the rich combinations of colours suggest luxury and warmth.
There is no intention to express emotion or passion, no message, only the exploration of the physical process of manoeurvring the paint.
The 'Fabrication Series' is a development of the Fabrica series using larger canvas. |
