• Welcome to EWACC, East & West Artists and Culture Club

    eAims and Objectives

In addition to well-established artists there are many others, very talented, quietly beavering away, unrecognised. Their works have not yet seen the light of day as they do not have the right opportunities.
EWACC was set up to help such artists by providing them with opportunities to widen their contacts with other artists, professionals, and other art lovers. Their CVs and works get shown all over the world through EWACC's web-site. These artists' works and interviews are also introduced through the club's publications which are distributed in Japan, the UK and Europe.
The Club also organises regular social events and joint exhibitions or performances by members and is now planning a project regularly to exchange and introduce artists between Japan and the UK (or Europe)

EWACC is always looking for new talent and will promote and undertake management. If you are an artist, wherever you live, join EWACC today to expand your network and open up new opportunities.

EWACC also welcomes non-artists who are art lovers or who are in art-related businesses, whose joining as supporting members will encourage our artist members. Supporting members benefit by getting to know talened artists through club events and the Internet, and be able to give personal support to indivuduals.

    eHistory of EWACC

AJAC (Anglo-Japanese Artists Club), the predecessor of EWACC, was set up in 1996 by Japanese artists based in the UK and British artists to promote friendship and extend the network to other fields of artistic endeavour.

Since then the Club has organised regular gatherings for members supported by galleries in Cork Street and Windmill Street in central London. The handful of people soon became 30-40 and by the time of the Christmas Party had increased to more than 100.

In 1997 the Club held a joint exhibition - The Japanese and European Contemporary Art ExhibitionE(supported by The Japan Foundation and the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation) which gained large responses from both the public and the art world.

The Club changed its name recently from AJAC to EWACC as membership from China, South Korea, South-East Asia and European countries has increased. The new name is also more suitable for worldwide use on the Internet which enabled people to join the club from anywhere.

EWACC now has about 500 members not only in the UK, Japan but all over the world and the club is aiming to become one of the largest east and west cross-culture clubs in the world.
EWACC gratefully acknowledges support in the present and past from:

BEAUX ARTS GALLERY, RAAB BOUKAMEL GALLERY, ALAN CRISTEA GALLERY,REBECCA HOSSACK GALLERY, CURWEN GALLERY, REDFURN GALLERY, NEW ACADEMY GALLERY, THE GALLERIES IN TOWER HILL, JAPAN FOUNDATION, THE DAIWA ANGLO-JAPANESE FOUNDATION, THE GREAT BRITAIN SASAKAWA FOUNDATION, JAPAN 2001 FESTIVAL, GLOBAL CAFE, ORIENTAL CITY, LIGHT GALLERY, JAPAN AIRLINE, SANSETSU UK LTD and many shops, restaurants culture centres and art schools.

    eActivities of EWACC

    • To produce members' portfolio pages in EWACC's official site and publicise them to all over the world. Especially we have strong connections in Japan and Far East.

    • To organize regular gathering and various events for members at venues such as galleries in order to widen their network. Art-love collectors will also attend these events

    • To publish and distribute the club's Online Newsletter which contains representations of members' work, interviews, articles, forth coming event programmes, competition news, etc.

    • To organize members' group exhibitions in London (normally every 3-4 months) and Paris, Japan. We are going to organise our group exhibition in Osaka, Japan every year (in October) which includes Kyoto Tour (Kyoto is just one hour away from Osaka).

    • To run and maintain East-West Online Art Market and sell members works. EWACC members can sell upto 10 works at this market free of charge. We link to artist profile page from each work to be sold so visitors can see more details of the artist and artist can also get more advertising .

    • The club produces videos (streaming, CD, DVD, etc.) for members upon request. The Club promotes members' portfolios and videos through EWACC's sister sites. We have three great sister sites (East-West Internet TV, East-West Fashion Link and EWACC-Art) which are linked and promote each other so EWACC members can benefit from the different worldwide network.

    • To organise "member's homestay exchange service" and become a match maker for overseas members. The most popular exchange is between Japan and UK.
