The depiction of nature using ideas relating to the chaos theory is the main aspect of my current work on the MA at Chelsea College of Art and Design. I want to describe nature by using the chaos theory to find a rhythm or pattern through their orderliness and randomness.

For the four years I have been studying both fine art painting and drawing in London.
The ideas and inspiration for my work arise form the deep found respect I have for Japanese art and culture. My drawings presently are a response to a visit I made to Japan in the summer.

The fashion designer Yoji Yamamoto gave me the most strongest impression. I have been to his shows in Paris twice. Not only see the show, but also the backstage of the show which you can see real people. I decided to paint the scenes of the backstage of the fashion show by Yoji Yamamoto. I express the atmosphere which I actually felt with him, his assistants, and models.

My pictures describe the way I see the world around me, I've always been passionate about photography and I've been using it to express myself for the last ten years. I tend to work more in black & white when I do portraits and fine-art pictures but I love color for my reportage work.

Shrive, Julie

My sculpture work is humorous & unorthodox often with concern for social, political, topical & conservation issues. Through my practice I am hoping for the public to question, reflect & react. Related multimedia pieces frequently constitute installations; my main concern being to find art in my surroundings.

My work explores the concerns of personal identity. I refer to events, memories and sources from my own cross-cultural background; I was born in Scotland and had a Chinese upbringing. The purpose of my work is to raise the awareness of female sexuality and individuality, through the exploitation of cultural traditions and mass media.

Splitting my time between Dublin, London, New York and Moscow and having traveled extensively, I have gained an extremely global outlook on life. I am interested in the universal self-regulating systems of energy that are the foundations of our world, both on a macroscopic scale, such as in the economic systems and on a microscopic scale, such as in the geometries on a molecular level.
